I've been working long hours and every weekend (including 4th of July) for the past month - my boss doesn't want me to burn out. We just delivered and tested what should be a final or near-final build of our code base, so I've been ordered to take it easy this week - I've also got this afternoon and Friday afternoon off.
Ah... Well, it's good that your boss is trying to look out for you. :) You don't happen to work for Motorola, do you? I used to, and the crazy work schedule sounds familiar (although luckily when I was there I didn't have to work long hours on the weekends...maybe once or twice).

Why were you told to take the afternoon off? I mean, that's awesome, especially if you're going to see The Dark Knight, but why the "forced" vacation?
